Quick question about vice —

I don’t really understand this line on the Player Reference Sheet: “Indulge your Vice. Clear 1 stress + your Vice rating. Also, clear +4 stress if you

overindulge”

I understand that vice is increased in order to decrease stressed but at what rate? Is all stress cleared at the cost of 1 vice point? Is it a 1-1 ratio and what defines overindulging? Are dice rolled to determine how much stress is relieved?

Thanks!

  1. In the last version its 1-1 ratio, no roll. So if you have, for example, Vice 2 would clear out 3 stress when taking the Vice downtime action. If you choose 1 overindulgence you would clear 7.

1 + vice rating (+ 4 if you chose an overindulgence).

  2. So let’s say you have 1 Vice. You indulge it. You clear 1 + your Vice rating in Stress. So that’s 2 stress. At 2 Vice you would clear 3 Stress, just by indulging.

On pg 21, right under the part you’re quoting on the right column, there are 4 bold words, Broke, Tapped, Bad Decision, Lost. If the player chooses to overindulge, they have to pick one of those. They clear 4 extra Stress (so whatever they got for the regular ‘Indulge Vice’ + 4 for the overindulging) and have to deal with the consequences of making bad decisions.

  3. Oh and there’s no dice roll to see how much stress you clear, you always clear Vice Rating/Level + 1 to Indulge it, and if the player chooses to overdo it, they clear an additional 4 stress. The only potential roll is for the Bad Decision overindulgence, which just gives you another entanglement roll.

  4. Perfeccttttt Thanks guys! For whatever reason I thought that the vice bar was filled up in response to removing stress. I understand now that its used to calculate how much stress is removed. I appreciate it!
