So I’ve been talking about the Hack I’ve been working on for a few weeks now, and I’ve finally had my first session of play testing, so now I”m ready to post the rules. Here it is, Desks in the Dark. It is a game about students sneaking about a mysterious boarding school.

The playtest went well though there are a few things I’m on the watch for (like gathering attention too fast). I also know that I still need to develop my rules for cliques and for staff (other than the headmaster). Please let me know what you guys think, especially John Harper if he gets a chance.
I summon Michael Atlin
I’m away from proper Internet access right now, but I’ll definitely check it out when I get back.
John Harper have you had a chance to take a look yet. I know your busy so no biggie if you haven’t.
Not yet, no.
I dig it. I especially like the tying in of Strings to the Teamwork rules, although I think the String flow is backwards between Lead a Group Action and Overcome, as I think the person who’s taking the risk should be the one getting Strings.
My thought was for lead a group, the cot is getting what they want and the other characters are helping, so the cot needs to give the strings. For overcome, the cot is letting the other characters through but they are being left with the consequences, so their doing the favor thus getting the strings. With two sessions down I’m wondering if spending strings is attractive enough
I think that makes sense except for where the Attention falls. It might even work out if you drop the Attention costs entirely.
And I can see how stashing Strings would be more attractive, as they’re kind of another form of XP that way.
