Don’t know if anyone has previously posted this (I couldn’t find it in the FAQ, for sure), but is the title of “favoured contact” purely in the fiction, or is there some mechanical bonus to it?
I considered giving +1d to a linked roll, but decided against it as I found nothing in the ‘ficial rules.
I imagine if you have to hit up a contact about something, its less risky to bother a favoured contact then some random other mover and shaker.
Yeah, I make talking to a contact a controlled situation, though the severity of the request affects the amount of segments in the progress clock to convince them to help.
I mainly take it as a signal from the player that this is the sort of person that interests them. Also, when the time comes to have a complication arise, the favorite friend is a go-to to get into action at that point. It also provides a convenient starting point for some flashbacks.
I don’t think it needs mechanics, it’s there to help you get into the game and connect the character to the game world. Those goals are noble enough. =)
I take it as a positive, helpful NPC that will help the players whenever she can and can be coerced into risking herself.
No mechanical bonus, but things will tend to be Controlled when interacting with them.
