  1. I know. Either as your closest friend or just a good buddy, it’d be an interesting scene if you turn him down. Personally, I’d like to make it look (with Bazso involved, of course) like you didn’t take his offer. That might not be as believable if he’s your bestie (I’m sure people would know Bazso’s a very close friend), but it could serve as fuel for some great political manipulation if word on the street is that Bazso “went too far” and one of his associates snubbed him.

  2. My gf is pretty new to TTRPGs but wants to play a Slide. I’m going to see who she picks as her bestie (that’s sticking) before I reveal more. 🙂

  3. Our Slide picked Bazco as his best friend. So he did the talking in the first scene. Didn’t help much when he tried to get a bigger cut from the score. Worth a try. Still, I’m sure Basco will be happy when he hears we burnt down half the Red Sashes temple emptying  their treasury. That might blunt his ire when we don’t give him any of it. Not that my Lurk doesn’t really care either way.

  4. There are a few easter eggs in the NPC lists, the other one that I noticed is Neryx(?), listed in the Slide’s friends list as a prostitute, in the Whisper’s friends list as a possessor ghost, and in the GM reference as one of two possessor spirits controlling streetwalkers…

  5. Dotan Dimet my players noticed that bit about Nyryx when both Slide and Whisper picked Nyryx as a favorite. I hadn’t noticed the third listing on the GM reference however. Thanks for the heads up!

  6. And then Nyryx possesses them as punishment for using her good name! Hmmm, I wonder if a “nice” possessor ghost might make some kind of deal with the living to borrow their body. Nyryx might have a customer who prefers older redheads, so she goes to her stable, rides the flesh (literally and figuratively) for whatever thrill she desires (possibly a taste of life through the Little Death…ironic) and the living get coin for their troubles.

It just came to me that there could be a dangerous thrill where people let ghosts in, perhaps because there’s a chilling “high” at the moment a foreign spirit touches flesh. That brush with death that makes you feel alive. (I totally see knuckle-headed debutantes going to exclusive “grave-walking” clubs to experience such a dangerous thrill, coming “back” with nervous giggles and false bravado).

It could be a trade between the living who need a thrill and the dead that crave the touch of life. Or a lie told by cultists in order to make zombies, vampires or possessed slaves (I’d need more info on said beasties to get an official grasp).

*To add: Perhaps some whisper(s) devised a way to leash ghosts so when they possess a living person, it’s not total. This could be maddening for a slave-spirit and perhaps they go mad more quickly when being teased with life over and over. The ghosts are destroyed and need to be replaced, adding one more buyer in the economy of souls.

These guys are assholes and I’m so using them! lol

There’s something primal and perverse in such a trade; one that goes far beyond consensual flesh-peddling since it crosses the inevitable line everyone is avoiding.
