Hey John Harper, will there be any guidelines for playing ghosts in the rulebook?
I only ask, because in last night’s tumultuous game, Miss Vanessa the Whisper confronted the Master in an attempt to sway the Red Sashes to the troupe’s chicanery. It all went horribly wrong and I offered Barbara (who was playing Vanessa) the danger of her grisly death at the hands of her nemesis (she has a project to trap the master’s spirit essence).
She rolled poorly on her effect save, had limited stress reserves and asked if she could become a ghost instead? I said sure! Because that sounds awesome, but she now has other issues, since she will be hunted by the spirit wardens, needs a vessel to house her soul, craves vengeance on the Master and has limited means of (physically) interacting with the world.
I’m sorta winging it. Any advice would be welcome!
Sounds like a very cool game you have going there Nathan Roberts!
There will be systems for playing a ghost, yes! Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it so far. When I have time to write up some guidelines, I will.
Dear god I cannot wait to play this game…
Thanks mate 🙂
And Yes Dan! After the one-shot, the regulars have put our Mouseguard campaign on hold to play more Blades!
Btw, the very first session of Blades, ever, involved a PC dying and becoming a ghost (for a few minutes) before being ritually placed in a new body. So you’re in good company, Noofy. 🙂
Ooooh, rituals for possession. Wicked!
How many upgrades before they stop calling you ghost and start calling you demon?
Well would be vampire,.. guess vampire may become demons.. depending what a demon actually is ^^;
It’s true – we have not had demons truly defined for us yet. Leviathans are called ‘demons’ but they’re clearly physical… while Setarra, the Demon Patron of Oskar Scurlock, clearly phases in and out of existence… whether like a ghost or teleporting isn’t entirely clear.
The whalers are becoming a prominent faction in our game, and leviathan corpses are rather cetacean in our game. Nobles line the whaves of the whaling station with parcels of coin in hand to buy the privedge of emmersion in leviathan blubber; their steaming heads the only thing visible as they stand row apon row encapsulated in the gigantic flensed carcass.
Mr. Roberts, your brain intrigues me strangely. Consider me signed up to your newsletter.
