So here’s a thought.
How hard would it be to run a game where the PCs are actually a group of “undercover agents” working for the government/police/whatever, and have to keep up a believable facade of criminal activity while trying to hold on to their morals and oaths to the government? I’d imagine at the least you’d need a special crew sheet, maybe some special countdown clocks to represent the tension between living the lie and doing what’s “right”.
(Why yes I have been playing Sleeping Dogs, why do you ask?)
.
You’d likely want a special crew sheet, and you’d maybe need something other than heat (I’m thinking maybe stealing resources from Band of Blades, if I’m understanding it correctly). But you could also do a very decent game with the base rules. Heat is others catching on. Your scores are probably at least in part driven by government priorities and your payout is actually your operating budget.
Great idea, Sean. Totally possible with a few minor tweaks.
I also wonder if its possible to run a crew like The Shield- ostensibly a police force, but still committing myriad criminal acts (and generating Heat from other cops).
I was just talking about a playset for The Shield the other night. I would love to play in that game. 🙂
I thought about it the other night when thinking about crew types for a modern urban crime setting. Undercovers and Rogue Cops would be good ones to figure out.
