Downloaded and read the quickstart package this morning. Good stuff.
For me, no system is mine until I run an occult conspiracy game in it. Which, I am going to do probably within three weeks of the actual receipt of the code stuff for doing my own books.
I think Blades could work really well for factional conflict between occult groups, mid-range Unknown Armies-style.
I’m fairly sure having a “cult” crew means occult conspiracy comes standard. If you want modern-day occult… actually, you can pretty much use the playbooks unmodified except for the equipment. You’re just ditching Duskwall as a setting.
Actually, Mike’s take is precisely what I’m talking about. And there being occult stuff isn’t the same as dropping the setting. Among other things, I think you’d need multiple kinds of heat, because there would be heat from within the community and heat from the police both.
I really like how you could have challenges where the consequences include emotional damage as an interesting take on long term effects.
