Ok ok, I have now sunk 20 dollars into a game I might never play because it looks so cool. Damn you John Harper !
Damn you!

Except it’s already up to like 6 games you’ll never play. I mean holy awesome suppliments batman.
play it… you’ll absorb its coolness and become even more cool than you are now.
David Rothfeder, It even looks like one of the supplements (The Vigilantes) lets you play Batman.
And then with The Doomed, you can play the Batman’s various foils!
Mike Leavitt, the secret of every rpg is that you can always play the bat.
David Rothfeder, I think you’re probably right.
Batman is also the figure on the face of my moral compass. When figuring out whether or not something is wrong, I basically ask myself, “Would Batman come after me if I did this?”
Yeah, you’d only be playing Batman if he had suddenly become a villain. You get to play The Penguin or Poison Ivy or Catwoman or someone like that instead, which is probably actually better, no? 🙂
hari capra, there is nothing in the game that says you have to be a villian. Your crew could take jobs against people who deserve it, or only have innocent people as clients. You could give the coin you steal away to the needy, or are trying to climb the power ladder so you can instill change. It is possible that some of there is a gang sheet for a group that interacts or defends the community. Even Batman hasn’t always been on the laws good side. Of course just because I can play a good person doesn’t mean that I’m going to start torching buildings for fun and profit once I get the chance to play the game.
Like Poison Ivy. She’s not bad, she does what she does for a good reason. The environment is important, dammit!
No, I get your point though. It sounds like it’s better to avoid moral absolutes but to stay in the gray area instead.
I almost feel sad for the other rpg’s I’ve backed recently. I’m thinking they’re far less likely to get any actual play and will only end up looking pretty and collecting dust. It’s all your fault, John! But, I certainly won’t mind. I’ll be too busy with my crew, working our way up the underground ladder!
Wait, this is your FIRST time spending money on an RPG you may never play? o.o
Hah! Good point! I never said that!
