I had a question on this one so I might as well ask John Harper here.
So Arvus is a cutter who is Not to be Trifled With, and he walks into a bar where a half-dozen Red Sashes are hanging out. One thing leads to another, and blades come out.
The mechanics for NtbTW specifically affect the effect roll, but does it also affect the character’s position? Normally being outnumbered six to one in a fight is a desperate situation, but if NtbTW applies I’d call it merely risky instead. that seems quite powerful.
is this intended to be one way or the other, or is it up to the individual group to decide?
Yep, it would apply to the action roll, too. Arvus is “facing a foe on equal footing” because of NTBTW, so it would probably be risky instead of desperate. Maybe I’ll re-word that ability to make it more clear.
The ability certainly lives up to the name!
In our current game we’ve got two Cutters. Mine and Brandon Amancio ‘s. They both have this ability. Between the two of us I think we count as a small army…
Yeah, João, the group still assesses the position based on their desired tone. But if you have NTBTW, you have an edge in that assessment that a normal person doesn’t.
